Step 1:

Draw a line across the painting a third of the way up and paint using mostly white with pale yellow, orange, blue and purple for a frosty background effect. Use brush strokes going across and some going upwards.

Step 2:

Paint 5 evergreen trees- fir trees in the background on the horizon, with brown paint for the stumps and light green for the foliage. Use the brush and dabbling marks.

Spread the trees across the landscape with space between them.

Step 3:

Paint 3 deciduous trees in the foreground with bare branches using pale green paint using blue and yellow as a mix.

Overlap the bare branches over the fir trees.
