Brighton Pier

Patricia is interested in drawing and painting but first wanted to try using 2 point perspective as shown in Brighton Pier and David’s original drawing of the ‘Palace Pier’. David guided Patricia how to draw the pier with the beach and promenade.
Colour pens were used here and what an amazing selection of colour marks Patricia used!
There are points of colour in the foreground that look pointillist, while she uses short and long marks to create space and distance.
Patricia also tried drawing figures in, and was guided how to simplify the head and torso to give the essence of gestures in the figures.

David guided Patricia with perspective by drawing this while explaining how to do 2 point perspective.
David showed Patricia how to use different angled lines to an horizon point, then how to use simple lines to show gestures of figures.
