Different Strings to the bow.

Strings to the bow may conjure up the idea that there are other facets to ones armoury such as other skills or experience. However I’m using this phrase to describe myself as an artist because I think that having different ideas, approaches, techniques, artwork that’s different in theme work is equivalent to having ‘‘different strings to the bow’’ so to speak.

In my folio of artwork I have experimented and produced a variety of artwork with different medium and with different results, thus being different in theme and content. For me this is essential to understand what I am as an artist. there are a number of artists that have changed, experimented with different mediums and tried different art forms to progress themselves as artists, instead to saying ‘‘I’m a landscape artist who works with oil’’. I’ve made large bodies of work with pen & ink, both conventional landscapes and some in abstract form, and have made oil paintings and acrylics on landscape themes, but I’ve thought it valuable to show a different angle to what I do - using people in landscapes which can be seen in my watercolour work.

Now that I’ve talked about my artwork as being different in theme and content, I have different strings to the bow as the Founder and Director of Blind Create which I hope will also have different art work and different mediums to show as it develops through each year. So far the themes and the artwork have been different creative and imaginative. I’d like to think the Store on my website in a another string to my bow as anyone can order and have copies of artwork on a poster, mug or any other accessories. So considering this- does anyone consider having several facets to your strengths as an artist?
