Abstract of forest in Jan (Mondrian theme)
Abstract of forest in January- using a Mondrian theme:
lines and shapes of different colour to represent the geometry of trees.
Step 1:
Use black card and cut into long strips about 1 cm width.
Position on A3 paper - vertically and horizontally.
Step 2:
Cut a few squares of black and position in different parts of the abstract.
Step 3:
Put more lengths of card and position on the abstract randomly vertically and horizontally.
Step 4:
Add lengths and short pieces of black card to put borders around all colour shapes.
Spread the colour shapes around the artwork to balance the composition.

Helen made this fantastic collage of an abstract using strips of black paper and colour squares and rectangles. It’s very well balanced, and great to look at. She had assistance to cut the strips and paste.
